Mountain Shadows Middle School provides an exhilarating combination of academic rigor, nurturing support, and adolescent extra-curricular activities. By recognizing and celebrating the uniqueness of adolescence, Mountain Shadows Middle School has become one of the most talked-about schools in Sonoma County.

Mountain Shadows Middle School consists of 900 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students whose demographic make-up closely reflects the county which we live. We serve the cities of Rohnert Park and Cotati, a rapid growing and markedly diverse community of about 50,000. Believing, as we do, that "demographics are not destiny," we have designed programs specifically suited to address them and lead all students to grade level proficiency and beyond.

School Engine allows students to review recent assignments, follow suggested teacher and library links, read research articles, upload work from the teacher from home, and message the teacher. Word of the Week and Problem of the Week are also now online. Every student is eligible for an account. Although an email address can be handy, a student need not have an email address to have an account. See the librarian for details.

Parents can view the site as a "guest" and keep current on all school news (see the handy links at the top of the page) and teacher assignments and Newsletters from the Principal and PTSA are also posted. Also, if parents sign up for their own account (contact the webmaster for information), they can instant message their child's teacher.

Distinguished School Award * Sonoma County Program of Excellence Award * Jack London Award for Educational Excellence
